She has been working as a certified child life specialist at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) in the Bronx, NY since 1999 with patients of varying ages and diagnoses.  Meghan became the Director of this program in 2004.  Since that time, the program has grown from 5 staff to 19 staff serving all inpatient and outpatient areas of this busy urban hospital. Her committee work in areas of expertise includes pain management, bereavement, customer service, and program development. She is trained in the use of clinical hypnosis for relaxation and guided imagery and Reiki level 1.  In 2007, Meghan was awarded the “Faces of Respect Award” and the Child Life Program was awarded the “Suzanne Pincus Award” for excellence at Montefiore Medical Center.

Additionally, she is the director of the Explainer program at CHAM since 2006 which utilizes youth interns to teach patients and families how to navigate the interactive patient care system at the bedside tv. GetwellNetwork offers health education, tv, video on demand, internet, gaming, and customer service. The interns are offered career workshops while employed to scaffold them into career opportunities through skill building in resume writing, interviewing and career education. Over 85 students have participated in this program with a 100% high school graduation rate (in a borough with only a 20% graduation rate), 100% of students have gone on to college and several have completed advanced degrees. More than 50% of these participants are now in a full time career with half off those being employed in healthcare.
