This on-demand webinar will discuss the role of the Child Life Specialist working in the community with children and family affected by a variety of adverse childhood experiences. Participants will learn how to use the philosophical tenets of child life: developmental explanations, child centered play, coping strategies, expressive arts, and preparation as tools for supporting children and families in community agencies like homeless shelters, foster care and adoption as well as specific populations like those affected by disasters or having an incarcerated loved one.

This on-demand webinar will discuss the role of the Child Life Specialist when a child and family is admitted to the hospital that has also experienced additional traumas. Examining assessment, scope of practice, and interventions participants will learn about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), their relevance to child life practice, use of assessment to better support families with multiple ACEs, and learn responses reactions and potential child life interventions.
